Here it is February 15th and I still haven't ridden at all. I suck. I have new, never-ridden bikes sitting here, too. *sigh*
Contrary to my last entry in December, I won't be riding a LOOK this year. I don't know what I'll be riding this year, aside from the bikes I already have. I'm changing jobs, ya see. My current employer wants me to work on the website ONLY for 3 days per week and then work on bikes 2 days. Yes, it would be easy. I could just sit on my ass and work on the computer all day. Where is the challenge? Where is the fun in that? I work at a bike shop because I like BIKES, not computers. I like talking to customers, not sequestering myself away from the sunlight in the back of a shop.
So, at some point in the near future, within 2 weeks, I'll be moving on to my next challenge. Starting March 1, 2009, I'll be the manager of DG Bicycles - formerly Nora Bike & Skate in Indy. We're right on the Monon Trail at 86th street. There is a LOT of work to be done. The previous owner ran the place into the ground - no pun intended, since the shop part is in the basement.
Finally my suggestions and decade-plus of cycling knowledge will mean something again! I won't be ridiculed for my suggestions. Yay! And I won't have to be tied to a website that has to be changed daily. We're a Bike Shop, not an online retailer. If a shop has time to update their site daily, they aren't doing enough *real* business. ie: helping actual customers. Our website won't be static, but it sure isn't going to be "bikesportmichigan" either.
Speaking of the website, here it is: DG Bicycles It's rather short on content at the moment, but that's because I just got it online last night. Yes, I'm using a CMS on this one. I've gotten old and lazy. Actually, I assume I will be so busy with the bike shop that I won't want to take the time to write new HTML when I want to change/add something. Also, this way, the shop's owner - Scott - can add stuff when he wants.
So, take a ride on the Monon and stop in and say Howdy at DG Bicycles. The drinks are always cold, and there's always something to talk about.

I'm hoping to find a safe place to park my truck near downtown Indy. Then it would be about a 10 mile ride to the store. I'm also hoping to ride in on some Sundays... that'd be a double metric century. lol

Maybe they will let you go for a ride every day at lunch. That is all you would need to be Ragbrai ready.
